Younger Kai, S2 Ep.03 "The Black Emperor"

Kai (Korean: 카이) is one of the main supporting characters, formerly antagonist and rival to Jino and Roy in Power Battle Watch Car Series. His Watch Car's name is Blood. As an unbeaten champion of all seasons, he cruelly overpowers his opponents.[1]
History[]
Ever since he was young, he was always neglected by his father. He was always attending calls that were his job or business related. Never did Kai have a father figure in his life after his mom died. As usual, his father never attend or show up. However one time, his father promised to come to his birthday. He was really glad, and waiting, and waiting. He wasn't showing up, he started crying as the Butler showed him Blood for the very first time. He screamed and begged for his dad, wondering why he wasn't coming. Of course, it was business or something that came up at work, he threw the Watch key and wanting his dad, despite Blood was high functioning and great in combat.
Soon, Kai bonded with Blood after realising both of them were lonely, patting him on the back. He told his father that he wanted to win in a competition, to let him try to win in a battle which he won. Now he was in the tournament and ending up in the second place. Though the result was good, his father wasn't pleased. He complained to him that he just lost the championship to his company's rival as he was disappointed. Gaining Atychiphobia, the fear of losing or not winning. His obsession with winning escalated and not showing mercy to the competing Watch Cars and eliminates any threats to win over. With the properties of what people called fantastic or perfect, it wasn't hard for him to win first place.
However, he was soon to be a weak point for the Black Shadows, his Watch Key was replaced with a mind controlling one. Corrupting his brain and Chongsu telling him to do whatever he wanted. Kidnapping Sona, attacking Bluewill, anything that Chongsu wanted. Jino and his group didn't know that he was being mind controlled so they accused him a lot. But episodes after, they helped him be free from the corruption, making him pass out.
In Watch Car in Crisis, he helped the team out by letting Avan be replaced by Blood in his honour and confronting Chongsu with the Main four. The Team escaped perfectly fine. In the last episode Jino and Kai made amends, becoming friends as they gave a handshake. Giving a speech to the people at the party before Jino came on stage and talked as the new first champion after years of Kai being first place.
Personality[]
From the beginning of the show, Kai was a head-strong, arrogant and analytical racer who'll crush anyone and anything to remain victorious as the Watch Car champion, stemming from his childhood where he was forced to prove he was the best. His quick movements and reflexes are carefully planned ahead with a flexibility for assimilation of unknown situations which granted him triumph in races. Though, despite his head-strong and rational self, he struggles from a fear of losing and internally panics, which is shown as rage on the outside. His extreme arrogance went to great lengths, and negative lengths as well.
In The Black Emperor, Kai was often isolated, alone and never had any emotional care. He was always faced with reprimands and repercussions if he failed at something. Which affected him deeply, and was the reason he was cruel to others. Overtime as his wins accumulated in the races, the more his former self was lost into a spiral of self-hate and self-pity.
Later in the late episodes of Watch-Car, where he fell into a trance and ended up getting mind-controlled into evil, and the Main 4 rescued him, he eventually learned to put his past behind him, and focus on the future. And ended up repaying the favour as a substitute for Roy when Avan was temporarily destroyed. Kai became more helpful, relaxed and engaging, while still remaining a healthy amount of his former persona.
Friendship[]
Jino; Jino and Kai always had a hateful relationship, Kai would always get on Jino's nerves and successfully make Jino lash out on him. But, the relationship gradually changed into a mutual, supporting relationship of friendship.
Friendship with Blood[]
Kai seem not to argue with his watch car, Blood. When he was young he felt lonely, but when he got Blood, they shared a kinship with each other about being lonely. So, they clicked and both are loyal to each other and never argues with him. He sees the best in Blood as Blood sees the best in him.
